Petra Shuff- President
Petra is a lifelong animal lover. Shortly after she took a job at the Wakulla Chamber of Commerce she was intrigued by an ad in the newspaper calling for “buddies” for the dogs at the shelter. She started volunteering as a dog walker, took pictures of the animals to post on adoption sites, and was part of a group at CHAT (prior to Paws of Wakulla) who took animals to adoption events. Petra was asked to serve on the CHAT board, serving as President for two years, until 2015, when the group split up and reorganized as Paws of Wakulla. She has been serving as secretary until taking on the role of president this year.

Carla Hanks – Treasurer
Carla Hanks has been an animal lover for many years and is honored to serve as Treasurer for Paws of Wakulla. When she was invited to join the organization, she immediately recognized the purpose behind the mission and the meaningful impact Paws has on the Wakulla community. Carla is passionate about supporting a group that focuses on the health, safety, and overall wellness of community animals. Through the programs Paws of Wakulla provides, she believes the organization plays a vital role in responsible care and population management for the animals living among us.
With a strong background in finance and solid business and organizational skills, Carla brings valuable experience to the board, helping ensure the organization remains financially sound and well-positioned to continue its mission.

Through volunteering, she has built relationships with other community programs, including Wakulla Good Hands (WGH), another outstanding volunteer organization. She strongly encourages others to get involved—volunteering truly makes a difference.
At home, Carla is kept on her toes by her beloved furbabies, Gracie (30 lbs, 10 years old) and Puddin (5 lbs, 15 years old), who have been with her their entire lives. They bring plenty of chaos along with calm, and their unconditional love is a daily reminder of why this work matters so much.
